World Oceans Day

June 8th paid tribute to World Oceans Day, a yearly celebration focused on bringing awareness and education to the masses about the challenges our oceans face. Without a doubt, events like the catastrophic Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico and the unbalancing effects of fisheries were hot topics during yesterday’s festivities.

The conservation of our oceans and aquatic wildlife is becoming a prevalent conversation and something which we should all take seriously. After all, approx. 71% of our Earth’s surface is covered with water and the delicate, life-bearing eco-system we live in greatly depends on the maintenance of these water bodies. Green Living Show 2011
